Cedric: What's going on?
Tilly, sat on the couch knitting knitting needles with yarn: Miranda's working late, the twins are in the ball room, and Sofia's in her room hating the world.
Cedric: What's wrong with Sofia?
Tilly: My guess is a boy, and I hope you like this song because it's in heavy rotation.
Cedric: I'll go talk to her.
Tilly: That's not a good idea.
Cedric: Mm, Sofia and I kind of have a father daughter thing.
Tilly: Maybe you and cute little Sofia but this is pre-teen angry Sofia. You haven't met her yet.
Cedric, walking to Sofia's room: I got this.
Tilly: Dumb and confident. My favourite combination.

Queen Drichglur is thrilled that King Goffredo is showing her love and appreciation by taking the effort to learn her native language - Sardinian Vulgar. Given how Lustful King Goffredo is, they both spend some time together alone, in their bedchambers.
Soon, Prince Goffredo comes of age and becomes a Midas Touched (Level 4 Stewardship education). Besides that, he is also a secret Homosexual.
King Goffredo is beset with Vengeful Memories of how Basileus Eusebios of the Byzantine Empire abused his eldest sister Basilissa Anna. He contemplates making the man hang for his crimes as he gazes upon the gallows.
However, King Goffredo checks himself. God teaches us to forgive our neighbours and enemies for their trespasses against us, just as God forgives us of our trespasses. The fleeting thought of revenge passes from his mind.
King Goffredo's beneficiary Kopke, crafts an Illustrious Furniture which he names "Kopke's Statue". King Goffredo renames it as "Statue of King Goffredo", because that is what the statue depicts.
Queen Drichglur gives birth to their 4th daughter, Princess Anastasia of Italy, who is Comely and Intelligent.
Within the span of 6 months, Queen Drichglur contracts Pneumonia, is given a safe treatment which is successful and recovers from Pneumonia in June of 1129.
Soon, Maddalena di Padua, the daughter of Count Rinaldo, who is Amazonian, marries Prince Goffredo. With their union, their child has the chance of inheriting Beautiful, Intelligent, Herculean/Amazonian and Bleeder traits. This is on top of a 1.9% risk of their children being Inbred.
Finally, for his last Hold Court event, King Goffredo commissions the building of the City of Asciano in the County of Siena at the behest of his Steward, Count Eugenio of Polesine.
The construction would take 5 years to complete however, and we won't be playing King Goffredo in this file anymore. Thus concludes the adventures of King Goffredo and his grandmother Queen Matilda (formerly Duchess Matilda).
In the next post update, we will be playing Roads to Power DLC, with a brand new starting character! Let's look forward to it!

I actually think he may have been close with her right up until the day she left. There may have been promises of correspondence she couldn’t keep up with. There may have been other promises that, through no power of her own, she couldn’t keep.
Then, time passed, she wasn’t there to protect him from all the abuse, and he grew to resent her for leaving him. So, the times she was around, he hid from her because he couldn’t handle the inconsistency of her coming and going. It was too hard for him to deal with only having her around a week here or a month there.
Not to mention, how easy was it for the two of them to connect after being separated because of how much deeper the holds their respective families would have had on them at that time?
So, by the time she’s back for the first time, he’s already in the pit, and her father and Goodwyn have barred her from getting through to him.
Cedric, Tilly, and Grandmum (Roland's mother)
I really would have loved to have seen Tilly and Roland's mother interact with Cedric. I would love to know what they thought of Cedric, especially ever since the Incident.
I always thought Grandmum was genuinely just as strict and traditional as her husband, before older age- and the death of her husband- somehow mellowed her out.
Given how strict she was supposed to have been, I hc she and King Roland I both strongly disapproved of Cedric after the Incident (but remained good friends with Cedric's parents), and strongly discouraged their son from being friends with Cedric anymore... just as Goodwyn likely did with Cedric, all three of them seeing Cedric as a bad influence and a hazard to both the prince and his reputation. They likely did the same with Tilly, who I hc was similarly close to Cedric.
I have always wished we had seen Grandmum interacting with Cedric in at least one of the few episodes she was in, especially the finale where Cedric not only at last seemed like part of the family, but led everyone in saving Sofia and demonstrating just how powerful he was.
I also wish Tilly had interacted with Cedric on the show, since they grew up together with their siblings. I hc her and Cedric and young Roland and Cordelia all were very tight together before the Incident, and that Tilly was the only one who didn't blame Cedric or turn his back on him (aside from Winifred). Being a bit of an unconventional princess who didn't really fit in herself, I can't see her judging anyone else as 'different' or an outcast according to society's standards; besides, she seemed way too chill for that! I also hc that she tried to remain Cedric's friend, but he pushed her away out of fear that she would soon come to turn his back on him like everyone else (which was the start of him hardening his heart and refusing to ever get close to anyone again- except for Wormwood- despite his true loneliness), and then she eventually left the castle to be an adventurer before they could reconnect. 😟

"[Matilda of Boulogne's office as Queen of England], initiated and broadly defined by the coronation ordo, gave her royal power and authority to share in governance. Her obligations and activities were shaped by custom established by previous queens and the ad hoc needs of king and realm. [...] [Matilda's] thorough integration into the governance of the realm was not repeated in [Eleanor of Aquitaine’s] years as queen of England. Eleanor's coronation followed a new model that emphasized the queen as progenitor of royal heirs and subordinate to the king rather than as sharer of royal power. Though Eleanor acted as regent in England between 1156 and 1158 and in Poitou on several occasions from 1165 on, her writs suggest delegated rather than shared royal authority. In England, her power was limited by the lack of lands assigned to her use and by the elaboration of financial and judicial administration. Whereas [Matilda of Boulogne's] inheritance allowed her to play an integral role in politics by securing the Londoners' loyalty and a steady supply of mercenaries, Eleanor's inheritance provided her with more extensive power in Poitou and Aquitaine than in England. Until 1163, Eleanor withdrew funds from the Exchequer by her own writ, but unlike her Anglo-Norman predecessors, she was not a member of its council nor did she issue judgments from the royal court. Eleanor's counsel and diplomatic activities, in contrast to Matilda's, are rarely mentioned. She did, however, encourage the 1159 Toulouse campaign and supported Henry in the Becket affair and the coronation of young Henry. Eleanor was not a prominent curialis; she rarely witnessed Henry's charters or interceded to secure the king's mercy. She did follow in Matilda's footsteps in her promotion of her sons, cultivation of dynastic goals through the Fontevraudian tombs, and patronage that reflected her family's traditions. For Matilda, to be queen encompassed a variety of functions-curialis, diplomat, judge, intercessor, and "regent." Through a combination of factors, Eleanor's role as queen was much more restricted."
-Heather J. Tanner, "Queenship: Office, Custom or Ad Hoc", Eleanor of Aquitaine: Lord and Lady (Edited by Bonnie Wheeler and John Carmi Parsons)
#this is so interesting when it comes to the gradual evolution of queenship over the years (post-Norman to early modern)#eleanor of aquitaine#matilda of boulogne#queenship tag#historicwomendaily#english history#my post#don't reblog these tags but#the irony of the 'Eleanor of Aquitaine Exceptionalism' rhetoric is that not only is it untrue#but you could actually make a much more realistic argument in the opposite direction#We know that it was during Eleanor's time as queen of France that 'the queen's name was disappearing from royal documents' (Ralph Turner)#She did not enjoy an involvement in royal governance that her mother-in-law Adelaide of Maurienne enjoyed during her time as queen#As Facinger points out 'no sources support the historical view of Eleanor as bold precocious and responsible for Louis VII's behavior'#Even as Duchess of Aquitaine she played a secondary role to Louis who appointed his own officials to the Duchy#Only four out of her seventeen ‘Aquitanian’ charters seem to have been initiated by Eleanor herself#And now it seems that even Eleanor's role as queen of England was also more restricted than her predecessors#with new coronation model that was far more gendered and 'domestic' in nature#That's not to argue that it meant a reduction in the queen's importance but it does mean that the 'importance' took on a different form#There's also the fact that Eleanor's imprisonment and forced subjugation to Henry after the rebellion till the end of her life#was probably what set the precedent for her sons' 'Lord Rules All' approach with their own wives (Berengaria and Isabella)#as Gabrielle Storey has suggested#None of this is meant to downplay Eleanor's power or the impact of her actions across Europe - both of which were extensive and spectacular#But it does mean that the myth of her exceptionalism is not just incorrect but flat-out ridiculous

After Matilda abdicates the throne to Roland she moves into the manor.
But she doesn't like that it's so big and so empty.
She considers turning it into an inn of sorts where weary travelers could rest, but running an inn means she couldn't come and go as she pleases. So she decided to rent out a few of the rooms.
That's how she met Priscilla. She needed a place to stay after she was all but thrown out of her family home by her mother.
She rents one of the attics and it's basically a studio apartment that Tilly helped her modify so she would have a safe place to brew and conjure.
They added a platform outside the window overlooking the garden so she could take off safely on her broom.
The rest of the house is pretty much communal for them and the others living in the manor.
There's a tall and slender elf that all but lives in the conservatory, a troll that stays mostly in the basement, a small group of gnomes in one of the upstairs bedrooms, and a fairy with a torn wing that likes to hide out in the grandfather clock.
Some nights they all meet in the living area and talk about recent events and day-to-day life, and sometimes they all have dinner together in the dining room. It's like they've become this mismatched, haphazardly sewn together quilt of a family.

Finally, we have 50 Living Members in the di Lucca Dynasty, and King Goffredo decides to Found a Holy Order headquartered in the City of Cagli.
King Goffredo becomes the Patron of the Knights Hospitaller, who are headed by Grandmaster Arderico of Knights Hospitaller.
And with that, we have achieved Give a Dog a Bone - what we have set out to accomplish with starting the game as Duchess Matilda (then later Queen Matilda).
The game is now complete. However, I might jump in to play King Goffredo a little bit more before we switch over to the Roads to Power DLC, as Queen Drichglur was pregnant at the end and I'm curious to meet her unborn baby.

Here’s more of my current comfort characters, cont.:
Thank you for coming to my comfort character big post.
I saw some post about first comfort character and current comfort character, and listen my memory is bad and I don’t remember who posted it. I meant to respond, but got interrupted and lost the post. So I am doing it anyway and if you are the OG poster of that and see this: this is for you 😂

Sunderland's Royal Jewel Vault (38/∞) ♛
↬ Queen Matilda Mary's Ruby Bandeau Tiara
Also called the Russian Ruby Bandeau, it has been suggested that this tiara once belonged to one of the royal family’s Romanov relatives—likely Empress Alexandra Feodorovna, Queen Alexandra’s niece by marriage—but there is no concrete evidence about the tiara’s original owner. What we do know is that it was made by French luxury jeweller Chaumet in the 1910s and was purchased by the freshly enthroned Queen Matilda Mary a decade later. The bandeau features an art deco design and ruby sunray elements. Throughout the 20s and 30s, it was worn by both Queen Matilda Mary and her successor, Queen Anne. In the 80s and 90s, the tiara was also worn by King Louis V’s sister-in-law, Phyllis, Duchess of Keele. However, as the twentieth century drew to a close, the jewel disappeared, once again becoming a mystery. Creation: Early 1910s by Chaumet Provenance: 1) Queen Matilda Mary of Sunderland 2) Queen Anne of Sunderland 3) Queen Irene of Sunderland Other wearers: Phyllis, Duchess of Keele Commissioned/Purchased by: Unknown Status: Unknown, likely in the royal vault

FAVOURITE HISTORICAL FIGURES 1/∞ ↳ Matilda of Flanders, Queen of England and Duchess of Normandy
❛ The coronation ordo for Matilda incorporated three important new phrases; 'constituit reginam popolo' - the Queen is placed by God among the people; 'regalis imperii ... esse participem' - the Queen shares royal power; and 'laetatur gens Anglica domini imperio regenda et reginae virtutis providential gubernanda' - the English people are blessed to be ruled by the power and the virtue of the Queen. ❜ Queens Consort: England's Medieval Queens by Lisa Hilton. ❛ Matilda's achievements as Duchess of Normandy and Queen of England had been considerable. ... Far from being a meek and submissive wife and consort, subject entirely to her husbands will, she had wielded authority in her own right and had enjoyed an independence of action matched by few of her contemporaries. ❜ Matilda by Tracy Borman.

"Equally I did not arrange large parties, and only entertained friends, including the Grand Duke Dimitri Pavlovitch and officers from the Uhlan Regiment stationed at Peterhof. Once the party went on until dawn, and the Grand Duke Dimitri, who, as the Tsar’s aide-de-camp in attendance, had that day to attend a parade of two cavalry regiments, of which the Grand Duchesses Olga and Tatiana Nikolaievna had just been named honorary colonels, barely had time to dash to St. Petersburg to change, reach Peterhof and take his place in the Imperial suite. We watched the parade, and I sighed with relief when I saw him appear. This was the Grand Duchesses’ first review, and how proud they looked on horseback in their well-fitting uniforms!"
